Upcycled Work Trunk

I do not have any before pictures but, I thought it would be nice to showcase this piece anyway. A friend of mine gave me this piece with several others, in exchange for painting some furniture for her. I am not quite finished with the furniture, but Erin if you are reading I have not forgotten you or your adirondack chairs. She found this in a home her husband flipped. It was built in the 1920's and the man of the house was a shoe repairman. This was his work trunk. I turned it into a coffee table. I think it's adorable and is for sale in my shop!

I even left the hooks he used for his tools.

Knowing the history behind this piece makes me like it even more. I love History, every aspect of it. At one time when I first started college, I was even going to school to be a history teacher. Then life sent me in a diffrent direction hmm.......

Have a good rest of the weekend!

Mortar and Pestle

I bought this without even knowing what it was on one of my buying adventures.

I just thought it was cute.
Then in a recent Country Living Magazine article they featured them. Now I at least know their intended use, and name.

After knowing the use and the name I put it into my Etsy shop.
Then today I was reading in Proverbs, and this was part of the chapter I was reading.

Proverbs 27:22Though you grind a fool in a mortar, grinding him like grain with a pestle, you will not remove his folly from him.

Pretty sure "HE" is trying to tell me something!
Anyone got any thoughts?

Have an awesome day, I am off to work on getting my booth ready for the open house.

Labor of Love

One of my best friends is moving back home. Well to her home, all the way back to Oregon. She asked me for one simple request, paint this and make it look better!

In return, I got a cute little vintage desk, and an antique table. I am going to reinvent them for my booth. She said I could do whatever I wanted. I got scared and called her after the first coat! She still told me, to do what I wanted. So....I did!

Not sure if she is going to like the one single blue drawer. It it supposed to represent me, I hope she gets it. She will have to make up her mind quick, they pull out of this great state tomorrow! So, it was truely a "labor of love". I feel like I worked harder on this piece, and had more worry then any other except, maybe the table and chairs I did for my sister. I really feel like the dresser is a true representation of myself, and I am very proud of her!

And as for Emily, I will miss you so VERY much! You are a true friend, and I learned many of life lessons from you. One of the biggest things you gave me, was the introduction to Dave Ramsey, and that in itself has changed my views on the way we do things forever! I have been very emotional sitting in my garage the last few days, working and reflecting back on times spent with my freind! Emily and Derek you are great people! You are selfless, giving, hard working, real, honest, and FUN! I don't think I have had a grown-up relationship friend move away. . .this stinks! I LOVE you guys! I wish you the best...I know you must be overjoyed to finally be going "HOME"!

Fall makes me smile

Wow two post in one day! Well, I have been thinking about my blog. . . and I want to work on making it a little more personal. So, I have added a few pictures of myself working today. The first one cracks me up, you can see why. This is why you should have someone else take your pictures, and not the timer on the camera.

I did a little better on this one.

But, what I really want to show is that I finally finished a dresser that I have been working on. It is for sale in my shop.

Here is a couple of shots.

I have showcased this dresser before, but I had other knobs on it. I said don't be lazy, make the dresser the way you first envisioned, with all the blue rose knobs.

One more thing, sometimes the world makes you think that your no good, your dreams won't come into fruition, and that you will never be successful. Well I have one thing to say to the world, and that evil little voice that tries to make me believe the lies. . .JESUS!

Fall ...Yes!!!

Oh Fall...

how I love thee, let me count the ways. No seriously, it is my FAVORITE time of the year. Just thought I would show some pictures, of Fall and the best color in the world, well of course it is blue. These items can be purchased in my shop.

Have a glorious FALL day!

Having Fun With Picnik and Etsy

I love fooling around with my Etsy listings, and trying to make cool pictures out of them. When I was 12, my dream was to work for National Geographic as a photographer. When I went to college, I changed my major from Education to Graphic Communications, because it had alot of required photography courses. After I had my daughter and became a single mom, I gave up the dream of being a freelance photographer! I killed my Nikon camera in college, by driving several miles with it on top of my car. . . it eventually fell off. Now, I shoot with a little digital camera that my husband and I got for free on a cruise we took (how? story later). Anyways my point is, I do have a camera fund, or should say envelope (thanks Dave Ramsey), but for now my little point and shoot and picnik is all I need for hours of fun!

Here are some pictures I took of new listings, and then the after shots with manipulation. I really like the reindeer one! I think maybe I should try selling these hmm.......we shall see!

After. . .

Just the After on this one

Before as listing on ETSY

And the After, I really LOVE this, like really LOVE!!!

~Have a good day~
